What do we know about this holiday, from where it originates? For thousands of years in October different people celebrate different holidays and festivals. Halloween is one of the oldest festivals in the world. Its history goes back Millennium, from the Celtic festival Samhejn, the Roman Pomona day (the goddess of plants) and Christian "all saints Day ". This holiday in a strange way it combines the Celtic tradition of celebration of evil ghosts and Christian-worship to all the saints.
Throughout Europe, this night marked the transition to winter. They believe that at this time the souls of the dead poetweet former home to warm up by the fire. They wander around, collecting donations of food and drink from other family members. The souls of the dead can take a different view of intentionally developing animals. Along with them there are also other forces of darkness: demons, house of the witch. All the evil spirits down to earth. Out of fear, people put out the lights in the houses and dress up as scarier in animal skins and heads, hoping to scare away evil spirits.
At the end of XIX century a Halloween have tried to transform into a public event, and many superstitious traits of a Halloween were dissolved in the history.
Now Halloween is a festival that takes place on October 31. In the United States children wear costumes and masks and doing "trick or treat". Many of them carve Jack of pumpkins. Divination and stories about ghosts and witches are popular activities.
People once believed that there were many ghosts and witches on the Earth and that they met on October 31 to worship the devil. Today people don't believe in ghosts and witches but they like to tell stories about them on Halloween.
