In
the middle of the 15th century a very important event (took) place in
Europe: the situation in the written literature ( changed)
radically, the printing press(was create). The name of a man who ( invented)
it was Johannes Gutenberg. He( lived) in Germany, in Mainz. Gutenberg (
built) and ( operated) the first ever printing press with movable metal
letters. Simple printing methods (had existed) for centuries, of course, but
they (were done) by hand and ( needed) much time. The new press ( had) the
individual letters (to be moved) quickly by the typist and different new
pages (were created). Due to that, books(were printed) cheaper and more quickly
than ever before. More and more printing presses (were being build) across
Europe. As a result, more people (learnt) to read. Thanks to Gutenberg's
discovery written fiction (was brought) to ordinary men and women.
