Winter holidays are shorter than summer ones. They begin at the end of December and last about two weeks. It is so nice to have a rest from school.
During winter holidays we celebrate the New Year’s Eve and Christmas. There are New Year parties for children at schools and theatres. Cinemas show children films and cartoons.
It is usually very cold in winter, but frost and snow can’t keep children indoors. It’s so great to go skiing down a hill. Boys like to play hockey on the ice. Many children go to the skating-rinks to skate. Small children play snowballs and make snowmen, or ride on the sledges happily.
When the weather is bad, I stay at home and watch TV. There is always something interesting on during winter holidays. Sometimes my friends come to see me and we play computer games or listen to music. There is also more time for reading, drawing, making model planes and other hobbies.
Holidays pass quickly and soon it’s time to go to school again.
Isaac Newton was born in the village of Valstorp (eng. Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire) on the eve of the civil war. Father of Newton, small but a prosperous farmer Isaac Newton (1606-1642), did not live to see the birth of his son. The boy was born prematurely, was painful, and therefore he hesitated to baptize And yet he survived, was baptised (on 1 January and named Isaac in memory of his father. The birth at Christmas, the Newton was considered a special sign sudbinata poor health in infancy, he lived 84 years.
Newton sincerely believed that his family dates back to the Scottish nobles of the fifteenth century, however, historians have found that in 1524 his ancestors were poor peasants. By the end of the XVI century the family got rich and moved into the category of Yeomanry (landowners). Father Newton has left a legacy of major at the time the amount of 500 pounds and a few hundred acres of fertile land occupied by fields and forests
In January 1646, the mother of Newton, Anna ASKO (eng. Hannah Ayscough (1623-1679) remarried. New husband, 63-year-old widower, she had three children, and she began to pay little attention to Isaac. The patron Saint of the boy was his maternal uncle, William Askow. In childhood Newton, according to contemporaries, was quiet, reserved, and isolated, he loved to read and make technical toys: sun and water clock, a mill, etc. All his life he felt alone
My stepfather died in 1653, part of his inheritance went to his mother of Newton and was immediately decorated it to Isaac. The mother returned home, however, the focus is on the three younger children and an extensive farm; Isaac was still left to himself.
