As for me I think it is normal to feel apprehension when you change something in your life and this change is great.
I think you should be more patient and try to find new friends. You are so outgoing and friendly I think it won't be difficult to make new friends.
As for teachers I think if you do not understand something you must ask them to explain it after lessons.
